SanGraal Guitars woods

The Quest for the Holy Graal
A wide variety of exotic wood are used for the construction of our guitars: maple, mahogany, alder, ash, basswood,  rosewood, etc.. There has been long standing debate in the guitar world concerning if the sound of an electric guitar is dependent of the type of wood used and/or whether the body is made of one or multiple pieces. Most guitarists agree that the wood affect the sound. At Sangraal Guitars we believe the wood has a role to play, but only if it is the right piece, crafted the right way. A quarter-sawn neck will have more sustain than a flat-sawn so the strings are vibrating obviously in a different way, then generating a different tone.

As a custom guitar manufacturer, Sangraal values beautiful instruments, the kind who will make you proud to own, to play, and to pass on as an heirloom one day. This is why we travel the US to find these "Holy Grail" pieces of wood, often hidden in countryside mills in the middle of no-where. We tap the wood, smell it, feel it, buy it and care for it until it become your instrument; this is the fun part of guitar making.

Everyone Loves San Graal Guitars

In all my years of playing guitar, I'd never guess the ST500 would make me feel like I'm picking up a guitar for the first time... but it did!
Chris Robbins • ST400 Cheyenne
For my blues and rock, this was a match made in heaven. The tone and versatility are flawless. In a way, I didn't choose it: it chose me. If you honestly believe in that kind of thing, you might be a guitarist.
